About the Artist
Artist Statement
Creative expression – painting, graphic design, photography, interior design - is as crucial to me as breathing! As a multi-disciplined artist, I combine paint, mixed-media, digital artwork and photography to communicate, through abstractionism, the vibrancy of nature, cultural diversity and life.
I delight in creating unique, visually-rich talking points and thrive on experimenting and developing new styles. The majority of my paintings are produced in acrylics and I describe the results as “vibrant textural experiences that satisfy both sight and touch”. I often mix a variety of materials, collage techniques, pastels and inks with metallic, pearlescent and iridescent paints.
Designing with a computer mouse instead of a paintbrush is a very different form of expression but equally enjoyable and rewarding! My many years of experience in corporate branding, advertising, e-marketing, event design and in-house graphic design gave me scope to design and visually communicate in a variety of ways. I currently use a range of graphics packages to create vivid and dynamic feasts of colour. I enjoy the challenge of bringing depth and texture to my digital pieces.
My photographic work tends to focus of the beauty and temperament of nature. I like to zoom in on specific segments of texture and shape to be found within. Often my photos form the basis for my digital artwork.
In the future, I look forward to more opportunities to show my work and to become involved in community arts projects.
I undertake commissioned work for individuals and interior designers and for corporate artwork.
So where does interior design come in?
Well I combine my passions for style and design with another of my passions - property.
I own and run Chez-Vous HomeStyle which provides a range of property presentation services to vendors and landlords. Over the years I have had a great deal of experience and success with the interior design and presentation of my own properties - and those of family and friends - exceeding the market rental or price. So now I combine my marketing and design skills, property experience, creativity and eye for detail to help others to do the same.
New ideas
I love the feeling, the rush of excitement, that comes with a new idea. And you never know when it's going to happen.
One day, as I was searching for something else, I came across some lovely natural stone squares and wondered how I could use them. I was also seeking decorative inspiration for a small wall in a downstairs cloakroom. Well, inspiration struck and the Wall Stone was born.
